Want to give back to the profession of higher education? Do you have a bias for action? Would you like to invest in the leadership development of others? Consider joining our board! GBSSA is currently seeking new board members for open positions. At our conference each year, we transition to our new executive board. This year, we are seeking to elect the following positions:

The Vice Chair (and Chair-Elect) shall be elected to serve as a member of the Board of Directors, and as an ex-officio member of all committees. They shall assist Chair with organization's initiatives, manage relationships with Professional Members and other organization partners, including oversight of the Annual Conference sponsor/vendor partners. They will oversee and facilitate the work of the nominating committee, perform the duties of the Chair in their absence, disability, or at their request. If the office of the Chair becomes vacant, they shall fill the vacancy. They will oversee specific initiatives, outside of standing committees as needed, and be responsible for compiling and distributing meeting minutes. This is a three year commitment (first year as Vice Chair, second year as Chair, third year as ex-officio Past Chair).

The Membership Chair is responsible for developing and implementing membership plan, membership database, and supporting membership benefits. Liaison with Web team to provide content to and maintain membership resources on the Web site.  This is a two year term. 

The Annual Conference Chair is responsible for the implementation of the annual conference for the organization. They will act as liaison with conference consultant from host institution for the programming and content of the annual conference, lead the annual conference committee, be responsible for providing content to communication and web teams for distributing conference information, and work with Business Manager to establish conference budget. This is a one year term.

Proposal Submission Process
In order to be considered, applicants must complete the proposal template, detailing a summary or outline of the presentation, then upload it using the form below.

Please note that the Planning Committee may ask to combine submissions that are similar topics into one presentation. Applicants are also able to form their own panels if there is a topic of shared interest with colleagues.

The GBSSA Board is excited to announce a new location for the 2015 annual conference! 

Our 2015 Annual Conference will be held on October 28th-30th at the Manderson Graduate School of Business at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa! 

Tuscaloosa, Alabama is an area very much alive with history, character and beauty. The city, which was named an All-America City by the National Civic League in 2002, is home to Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, which allows Tuscaloosa to have the only Mercedes-Benz Museum in the world outside of Germany. The city's neighborhoods offer diversity – from elegant estates to contemporary homes. You’ll find quaint communities in the historic district. College town, small town and big city – it’s all right here.
Tuscaloosa is located along the banks of the Black Warrior River in West Central Alabama. Tuscaloosa is led by a Mayor/Council form of government and is home to just under 100,000 residents as well as a thriving business community.  Tuscaloosa has appeared in Money magazine’s annual list of the country’s best places to live. The ranking is based on qualities most valued in a place to live as stated by Money magazine subscribers.  The Tuscaloosa Metro area has a population of 182,000 people. Tuscaloosa is famous for its gridiron action and the home of the original Dreamland Barbeque, but if you take a closer look, you’ll see that’s not all we have to offer!  No matter what your interests are, one thing is certain- you will come again!

The Manderson Graduate School of Business is celebrating 70 years of excellence.  Since the first MBA degrees were awarded in the 1940s, the graduate school division of the Culverhouse College of Commerce has grown to include over 600 students in nine academic programs.  Tradition and innovation are both important at The Capstone.  In 2015, Manderson will welcome its first class of STEM Path to the MBA students.  In addition, the nation's first Business Analytics Lab will open in Bidgood Hall.  Manderson boasts multiple graduate programs with national recognition and ranking.  All of the staff at Manderson look forward to sharing their school and thier students with you at the GBSSA conference in October!

GBBSA Board Conference Chair, Claire Jefferies, M.A., Assistant Director, Alumni and Student Affairs from the Jenkins Graduate School of Management at North Carolina State University will coordinate the conference with Lori White, Director of Student Services and Alumni Relations for the Manderson Graduate School of Business at The University of Alabama.  Lori is a two-time graduate of The Capstone and has worked in student services on campus for 18 years.  Lori works with Manderson MBA students on orientation, graduation, student organizations, academic planning and team communication.  

The GBBSA Board and the Manderson Graduate School of Business are excited to announce this location and will share additional details over the next few months!

Responsible for developing and implement membership plan, membership database, and supporting membership benefits. Liaison with Web team to provide content to and maintain membership resources on the Web site.
